iOS 10 was a massive release for Messages, introducing predictions that present the perfect emoji as you type, a Tap to Replace feature that lets you “emojify” any message and emoji that appear three times larger within a message when sent on their own. Now with iOS 10.2, almost every emoji has been beautifully redesigned to reveal even more detail, so using emoji is more fun than ever.
There are also tons of new animals and several more foods, drink glasses (hooray whiskey!), along with a number of sporting-related emoji, including medals, that will help in the future when sending messages about the Olympics.

The update brings full Unicode 9.0 support — meaning those emoji that have been approved by the standards body that decides how our pictogram-based communications will evolve.
Apple notes the new emoji will work across Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch (watchOS 3.11) and Mac (macOS Sierra 10.12.2).
