Like the most anticipated Apple event that takes place before the launch of the new Apple products every year, Google I/O is something similar to that. Only, it is bigger than what Apple hosts.

In case, you were not aware of this tech event, read on to know what it is, and everything that happened in this year’s I/O.
What does Google IO stand for?
Google I/O was first inaugurated in 2008, and is organized by the executive team. “I/O” stands for input/output, as well as the slogan “Innovation in the Open”.
What is Google I/O?
The Google I/O is an annual developer conference. During this conference, Google announces all the new software, hardware and various updates that the company will introduce for its existing services and apps.
When and Where?
This year’s conference took place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California through May 7 to May 9.
Can I be the Audience at the Venue?
While many people watch the live event that Google streams every year, some of the lucky ones can even make it to the event. The rule is that you register yourself on the company’s website (in case you wish to attend the event). Google then makes use of a raffle system and selects the attendees randomly. So, if you make it to the list, you’ll be the lucky one. And if not, you can try your luck the following year. However, the selection of attendees does not apply that you attend the event for free. The selected winners still have to pay for their tickets. The prices of the tickets vary for people in different sectors.
Every year there is a deadline for the event registration. The winners get a notification via an email. In case, you cannot travel to California or do not get selected, you can attend an extended I/O event. Every year, developers around the States host several viewing parties. So, you can always join one of these extended events.
How to apply for the Google I/O
1. Visit the Google I/O website
As Google’s puzzle was announced at the end of last month, apps target the company’s annual developer conference. If you want a ticket for yourself, be sure to go to google.com/io and click the blue “Apply” button at the top of the screen.
2. Choose ticket type
As with previous Google I / O conferences, sign up for the event during the application process.
The first thing to do is log in to the site with your Google Account. Please note that you can only use once. Do not try to sign up for multiple Gmail addresses.
Then, choose to request an academic ticket or general admission. If you want a discounted academic ticket, remember that you need to prove that you are a full-time student, a high school teacher, or a tutor. Also, remember that there are fewer academic tickets available, so the chances of being selected for a general admission are greater.
3. Enter personal information
Now add personal information, including your legal name, address, and gender and diet restrictions. In addition, during this step, you need to provide information about your employer, your job title, and the programming languages you use, and so on. You also need to upload a picture of your profile at the event badge.
4. Enter payment information
The last step is to provide a payment method. As I wrote above, when you submitted your application.
When everything is finished, you can submit your application now. You must receive a confirmation email so you know everything has been accepted.
5. Wait (about a week)
All you can do now is back and hope you are randomly selected in Google I / O. You can also cancel your app or edit your information on the I / O site.

Google Stadia
Yet another announcement at the I/O this year was the Google Stadia. This announcement is what will excite the gamers as Stadia is set to offer the triple-A game streaming potential to anyone who has Internet access. The Chrome web browser is a pre-requisite as well. Stadia will be compatible with Chromecast Ultra as well apart from the Chrome on the browser. One of the hallmark features that Stadia is set to offer is the ability of an individual to switch from one device to the other in a matter of seconds. This will enable gamers to take their games with them. Wherever they go, literally.
While these were the software related announcements, Google also announced the new models for its smartphones.
Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL
The smartphones are set to come in two different sizes. These two entries also happen to be the first one by Google that falls in the mid-range smartphone segment. And to keep the devices cheap, Google had to downgrade the camera as well as some other features and aesthetics.
